Tata Electronics has made a significant move in the semiconductor industry by preparing to manufacture high-end chips in Dholera, Gujarat. This initiative is part of a larger effort to establish India as a key player in the global semiconductor market. Following the recent groundbreaking of its 91,000-crore semiconductor fabrication factory, the Tata group has begun producing high-end 14 nanometers (nm) chip technology in collaboration with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), its technology partner.
According to sources, the company gave the government access to the same as part of its business plan.
In addition to the 28 nm nodes that Tata Electronics and PSMC intend to produce at their fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, the 14 nm chips are far more sophisticated.
